Area Police Beat

In mid-June, Judge Ric Howard sentenced 31 yeaar-old Dustin Spangler of Hernando, FL to 15 years in the Department of Corrections after being convicted of buglary of a dwelling, burglary of a dwelling with battery, and grand theft.  Richard Robert Bolger, Jr., 36, Crystal River, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 19, charged with retail petit theft (value $100 or less). His bond was set at $500.

Debra Sue Fallstich, 57, Homosassa,  was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 19, charged with trespassing after warning ($1,000 bond). The report stated that Ms. Fallstitch had previously been trespassed from the Crystal River Mall, located at 1801 NW Hwy. 19 in Crystal River, but returned on June 19 to do some shopping, she told the arresting deputy.

Timothy Keith Norris, 57, Lecanto, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 19, charged with two counts of trafficking in stolen property and two counts of providing false information to a pawnbroker. His bond was set at $14,000. Norris is accused of pawning a Stihl MS362 chainsaw for $125 and a Stihl TS400 concrete saw for $100 to Diamond Ridge Pawn, located at 6894 W. Gulf to Lake Hwy. in Crystal River. The items, valued at $2,100, had been stolen from a shed located on W.

Horace Allen St. in Lecanto. Norris had signed and placed his thumbprint on the pawn transaction document. Norris told deputies that he had completed the transaction for another person, but he did not divulge the person’s surname.

Andrew Allen Peeples, 39, Dunnellon, was arrested by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, June 19, charged with grand theft of a firearm and burglary of a dwelling or conveyance while armed. His bond was set at $30,000. He was transported to the Levy County Detention Facility in Bronson. Edward John Calcagni, 48, Hernando, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 20, charged with violating an injunction for protection against domestic violence

Brittney Nicole Demeraski, 22, Homosassa, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 20, charged with misdemeanor domestic battery (no bond). Gene Edward Hanks, 55, Homosassa, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 20, charged with misdemeanor domestic battery (no bond).  Jesse Arthur Hunt, 38, homeless in the Homosassa area, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 20, on a Hernando County warrant for trespassing in an unoccupied structure or conveyance ($1,000 bond).

James Jerome Nichols, 46, Homosassa, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 20, charged with misdemeanor domestic battery (no bond).

Vicki Lynn 0’Sharp, 44, Crystal River, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 20, charged with driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol. Her bond was set at $1,000. The arrest was the result of a traffic stop in Crystal River at Manatee Lanes, located at 7715 W. Gulf to Lake Hwy., due to O’Sharp’s erratic driving, in and out of the lanes and against the curb. The report stated that Ms. O’Sharp smelled strongly of alcohol, her eyes were bloodshot and her speech was slurred. She told the deputy she probably shouldn’t be driving because she’d had too much to drink. Ms. O’Sharp agreed to submit to roadside sobriety testing and performed poorly. At the detention facility, her breath alcohol test results were 0.178 And 0.171.

Trent Alexander Vaughn, 22, Inglis, was arrested by the Levy County Sheriff’s Office, June 20, on a Levy County capias for failing to obey a law enforcement officer’s order to stop and operating a motor vehicle without a valid license (he never had a license, the report stated). His bond was set at $6,000.

Taylor Jobe Herrera, 36, Beverly Hills, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 21, charged with misdemeanor domestic battery.

Karen Joy Hibner, 31, homeless im the Crystal River area, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 21, on a Citrus County warrant for petit theft, second offense. Her bond was set at $1,000. Matthew Tyler Huggins, 21, Homosassa, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 21, on a Citrus County warrant for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia (no bond).

Amanda Jane Hughes, 26, Crystal River, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 21, charged with misdemeanor domestic battery (no bond).

Jeremy Wayne Thomas, 26, Homosassa, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 21, charged with misdemeanor domestic battery (no bond). Eric Randall Artille, 38, Hernando, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 22, on a Hillsborough County warrant for dealing in stolen property (value more than $300). His bond was set at $7,500.

Michael K. Chaney, II, 54, Homosassa, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 22, charged with misdemeanor violation of an injunction, by telephoning or contacting the peititioner, directly or indirectly (no bond).

Amanda Jane Hughes, 26, Crystal River, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 22, charged with misdemeanor domestic battery (no bond).

Stephen Charles Jones, 57, Inverness, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 22, charged with possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence ($7,000 bond). The report stated that a deputy made a traffic stop in Inverness, due to the driver not having a valid driver’s license. The passenger, Mr. Jones, was not wearing a seatbelt, the report stated. While the deputy was speaking with the driver, another deputy saw Jones toss an object out of the truck window that landed about three feet away from the truck. Inside the small metal container that had been thrown from the truck, deputies found 2 grams of methamphetamine.

Candace Jane Lowery, 30, Homosassa, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 22, charged with resisting an officer without violence and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill. Her bond was set at $5,000.

Jon Patrick Mayo, 43, Hernando, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 23, charged with aggravated battery using a deadly weapon (no bond). Tyler Wayne McEver, 25, Holder, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 23, on a Citrus County warrant for aggravated child abuse. His bond was set at $10,000.

James Phillip Rogers, 43, Crystal River, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 23, charged with misdemeanor criminal mischief ($200 or more, but less than $1,000). His bond was set at $1,000. The report stated that Mr. Rogers is accused of drilling a hole in two tires (one tire each on two vehicles), a loss of $400 to the victim. The victim made a recording of a flat tire on one of her vehicles and of Rogers drilling a hole in the second tire. While the victim was recording Rogers’ actions on her phone camera, according to the arrest report, Rogers stated to the victim,”Get a little closer.”

Billie White, 61, Brandon, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 23, charged with (misdemeanor) driving under the influence (DUI) with property damage. Her bond was set at $1,000. Carl Vaughn Cox, 34, Inverness, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 24, charged with misdemeanor domestic battery (no bond).

Jeanne Wallace Ray Ditzler, 51, Inverness, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 24, charged with misdemeanor domestic battery (no bond).

Crystal Anne Buzzell, 55, Homosassa, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 25, charged with trespassing after warning ($1,000 bond). The arrest report stated that Ms. Buzzell had previously been trespassed from the RaceTrac gas station located at 3861 S. Suncoast Blvd. in Homosassa and returned to the gas station on June 25. Ms. Buzzell told the arresting deputy that she was there to meet with a friend and give him money, the report stated.

Donald Wayne Lee, 48, Hernando, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 25, charged with (misdemeanor)   domestic intentional, unlawful threat, by word or act, to do violence to another. His bond was set at none.

Aracelio Mejias-Colon, 37, Beverly Hills, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 25, charged with misdemeanor domestic battery (no bond).

Austin Lee Simons, 20, Dunnellon, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, June 26, charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, drugs or chemicals ($1,000 bond). A witness told deputies that Simon was swerving between lanes at N. Deltona Blvd. and W. Gardenia Dr. in Dunnellon, and struck a bicyclist with his vehicle, which threw the bicyclist onto the ground. The witness told deputies that the bicyclist was within the bicycle lane. The deputy reported that Simons smelled of alcohol and his eyes were watery and bloodshot, and he admitted he’d consumed alcohol. Simon submitted to roadside sobriety testing and performed poorly, the report stated. However, at the detention facility, Simons’ breath alcohol levels were measured at 0.000 and 0.000. Simons also was issued a DUI traffic citation and a citation for failing to maintain a single lane.
