Former worship director charged with internet sex crimes

Early Thursday morning, July 13, a former worship director at Seven Rivers Presbyterian Church in Lecanto, 36 year-old Chad Robison of Hernando, was arrested on several internet sex charges which include 3 counts of video voyeurism for personal use, 3 counts of lewd and lascivious exhibition, and 1 count of knowingly promoting sexual performance by a child. His bond was set at $26,000.

According to a press release by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), Robison worked at Seven Rivers Presbyterian Church as the worship director from 2011 to May, 2017. Detectives started the Robison investigation in May, when a coworker at the church discovered inappropriate videos on Robison’s laptop computer he’d left at work. Church personnel immediately contacted the CCSO’s Major Crimes Unit, and Robison’s employment at the church was terminated.

Utilizing special equipment from the Internet Crimes Against Children, Central Florida Task Force, a detective with the CCSO’s High Tech Crimes Unit, began to scour through Robison’s laptop, which contained thousands of videos and pictures. Since May, detectives have been sorting through more than 3,000 videos, ranging from several years back to just a couple of months ago, and over 350,000 photographs found on Robison’s laptop. Hundreds of items featured young girls performing virtual sex acts with Robison. Robison also filmed young girls who visited his home, without their knowledge, while they were using his restroom.

CCSO detectives have already discovered victims from Canada and New York, and have contacted authorities in those jurisdictions. ìWe believe there could be multiple victims,” said Major Crimes Capt. Brian Spiddle. “Some may be local, here in Citrus County, and others across the states and abroad. It’s going to be a very difficult and long process to find those who have been victimized by this man.î

The sheriff’s office is asking parents, church parishioners, neighbors or anyone who has had contact with Robison and think they may have been victimized, to please contact the CCSO Communications Center at 352-726-1121 and ask to speak with the Major Crimes Unit in regard to this case.
