Area Police Beat

Joshua Huffman, 21, Inglis, was arrested by the Levy County Sheriff’s Office, July 13, on an out of county warrant. His bond was set at none.

Jessica Marie Hill, 30, Homosassa, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 14, charged with petit theft (value less than $100), and burglary of an unoccupied residence. Her bond was set at $10,250. Ms. Hill is accused of burglarizing an E. Windsong St., Floral City residence on June 1, 2017 and taking makeup items valued at $10.

John Charles Boggs, 25, Homosassa, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 15, charged with misdemeanor trespassing after warning ($1,000 bond). Mr. Boggs is accused of trespassing at McDonalds restaurant, located at 3740 S. Suncoast Blvd., Homosassa. The report stated that a deputy asked Mr. Boggs to leave the property, at the request of the manager, and Boggs shook his head to indicate ‘no,’ and then rolled over on the lawn at the front of the restaurant and went back to sleep. Even when warned that he would be arrested if he didn’t leave, Boggs stated, “Go ahead,” the report stated.

Christopher Matthew Jones, 28, Hernando, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 15, charged with retail petit theft (value $100 or less). His bond was set at $500. Mr. Jones is accused of taking an RCA electronic tablet, valued at $98, from the Lecanto Walmart and leaving the store without paying for the item.

Gregory Meyer, 49, Cambridge, MN, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 15, charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, drugs, or chemicals ($1,000 bond). The arrest came as the result of a traffic stop on a truck in the parking lot of Titan Contracting, located at 3029 S. Suncoast Blvd, Homosassa, due to excessive speed and failing to maintain a single lane. The deputy smelled alcohol coming from the vehicle and noticed that Mr. Meyer, the driver, had glassy, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. The report stated that Mr. Meyer performed poorly on roadside sobriety testing, and at the jail, his breath alcohol results were 0.152 and 0.145. Meyer was also issued a DUI traffic citation. A friend was called to pick up Mr. Meyer’s vehicle, the report stated.

Jennifer Lauren Reid, 29, Hernando, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 15, on a Citrus County warrant for possession of a controlled substance ($2,000 bond).

Billy Joe Roseberry, 32, Homosassa, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 15, charged with misdemeanor
domestic battery (no bond).

Suerez Jose Salazar, 50, Inverness, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 15, charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence (DUI) with property damage, and driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, drugs, or chemicals ($2,000 bond). The report stated that Mr. Salazar had crashed into a utility truck on S. Little John Ave., Inverness, about 9:12 pm, and smelled strongly of alcohol, had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech and was unsteady while standing. The driver of the utility vehicle told the deputy that Salazar’s vehicle was swerving, then crashed into him. He said that Salazar attempted to leave the scene, but backed into a tree. The report stated that Mr. Salazar had difficulty understanding the deputy in regard to performing roadside sobriety testing, and he attempted one exercise, but did not continue and asked for a translator. At the Citrus County Detention Facility, Mr. Salazar’s breath alcohol test results were 0.208 and 0.203, the report stated.

Ryan Scott Connell, 32, Floral City, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 16, charged with violating his driver’s license restriction (to use his driver’s license for business purposes only until Aug. 19, 2017), battery on a detention facility staff member, and refusing to submit to testing (with a previous driver’s license suspension for refusal to submit to testing). His bond was set at $3,500. The arrest was the result of a traffic stop for careless driving. The report stated that Mr. Connell spun his tires while turning into the Taco Bell restaurant. The report also stated that the deputy could smell the odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle and that Connell’s eyes were glassy and bloodshot. Connell admitted to having consumed several drinks and refused to submit to alcohol testing. Enroute to jail, the report stated, Connell screamed profanitiwes, made threats to kill certain children and stated, that if the deputy pulled over and took away his handcuffs, he would kill him. At the jail, he head-butted a corrections officer, the report stated.

Trevor James Graver, 26, Floral City, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 16, on a Citrus County warrant for felony petit theft (2 or more convictions of any theft). His bond was set at $2,000.

A Homosassa duo was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office on criminal mischief charges ($200 or less), July 16, following an argument at a S. Sorrell Ave., Homosassa residence. The report stated that 30 year-old Timothy Michael Pearson, 30, Homosassa, is accused of burning clothing belonging to Maureen Michelle Grizzle, 42, the previous day in a fire pit in the back yard, and she had allegedly retaliated by burning some of his clothing that day. The deputy found burned clothing to support the allegations. The two continued yelling until they were placed under arrest, according to the report. Their bonds were set at $500 each.

Johnny Shane Meyers, 35, Seminole, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 16, charged with misdemeanor domestic battery and violation of conditions of pre-trial release. His bond was set at none.

Steven Joshua Morales, 28, Inverness, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 16, charged with misdemeanor criminal mischief ($200 or less). His bond was set at $500. The report stated that Morales is accused of going to a Desoto Ave., Inverness residence, begging for money, and when the residents declined to give him money, he smashed a glass plate and a glass vase that were on the front porch.

Mark Perrell Sears, 53, Ocala, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 16, on a Marion County warrant for possession of a controlled substance (crack cocaine) and possession of a controlled substance (crack cocaine) with intent to sell, manufacture or deliver ($7,000 bond).

Michael Stewart, 21, Homosassa, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 16, charged with misdemeanor domestic battery (no bond).

Albert R. Anders, 82, Homosassa, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 17, on a Citrus County warrant for misdemeanor domestic battery (no bond).

Kelly Kai Carlock, 44, Lecanto, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 17, charged with misdemeanor driving while license knowlingly suspended or revoked, first offense; and driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, drugs or chemicals ($1,500 bond), after deputies answered a call for service due to a dark SUV and a boat being parked in the middle of the road (headed westbound) on W. Gulf to Lake Hwy., Crystal River, at the intersection of N. Rock Crusher Rd. A deputy arrived and flashed the patrol vehicle’s emergency overhead lights as it turned around and pulled behind the vehicle, which began moving forward at approximately 15 mph, the report stated, until it turned onto N. Meadowcrest Blvd. and stopped in the median, still without head lights, tail lights or tag lights activated. Ms. Carlock, the driver, smelled of alcohol, had glassy bloodshot eyes and slurred her speech, according to the report, which also stated that Ms. Carlock’s driver’s license had been suspended in 2016 for failure to to pay a traffic fine and refusing to submit to roadside sobriety and breath alcohol testing.

Darrell Samuel Colon, 27, Beverly Hills, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 15, charged with aggravated battery using a deadly weapon and false imprisonment.

Douglas Jay Cotten, Jr., 26, Homosassa, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 17, on a Citrus County warrant for two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill ($20,000 bond).

Jerett Joshua Justus, 28, Leesville, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 17, on a Citrus County warrant for violation of an injunction for protection against domestic violence (no bond). He was transported from the Pinellas County Jail in Clearwater to the Citrus County Detention Facility in Lecanto.

James Phillip Rogers, 43, Crystal River, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 17, charged with burglary of an unoccupied residence ($10,000 bond). The arrest report stated that a deputy located Mr. Rogers at the Citgo gas station, located at 5890 W. Gulf to Lake Hwy., Crystal River, because he was a suspect in a past burglary at a W. Sunnyland Ln., Crystal River residence, and Mr. Rogers told the deputy there was no court paperwork stating that he could not be at the residence. Mr. Rogers was detained and taken to the residence in question. The report stated that a person (who was keeping an eye on the property for the victim) dropped by the home and found that it had been broken into. The victim told deputies that Rogers had moved out of her home on June 2 and also that he’d vandalized her vehicle’s tires on June 23. The victim told deputies that $20 in coins had been stolen, that Rogers had taken a shower at her residence and had also gone through some of her paperwork.

Jamie Leah Scutt, 32, Beverly Hills, FL was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 17, charged with misdemeanor domestic battery (no bond) and battery ($1,000 bond).

Keontay Tacarver Broom, 34, Crystal River, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 18, charged with possession of a controlled substance ($3,000 bond).

Alexis Dene Oswald, 23, Dunnellon, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 18, charged with misdemeanor criminal mischief ($200 or more but less than $1000). Her bond was set at $1,000.

Samantha Kellye Damron, 27, Inverness, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 15, on a Citrus County warrant for (misdemeanor) obtaining food or lodging under $300 at a public establishment. Her bond was set at $500.

Connor Eric Holland, 22, Homosassa, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 19, charged with theft of an auto, bus or truck ($2,000 bond). According to the arrest report, a 2004 Town and Country minivan owned by Sanctuary Mission, located at
7463 W. Grover Cleveland Blvd., Homosassa, that was parked in the parking lot at 5:30 pm, July 18, was found to be missing around 4:30 am, July 19. Video surveillance was viewed that showed the theft, and several people watching the video recognized Mr Holland. He was located and taken into custody. Mr Holland was additionally arrested for violation of his Citrus County probation (for a previous conviction of grand theft more than $300, but less than $5,000; and grand theft of a motor vehicle), with his bond set at none.

Jeremy Adam Lane, 28, Homosassa, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 19, on a Citrus County warrant for violating an injunction for protection against domestic violence (no bond).

Carol Ann Wheeler, 65, Floral City, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 15, charged with misdemeanor domestic battery.

Jesica Jean Jones, 35, Dunnellon, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 20, charged with possession of a controlled substance ($2,000 bond). The arrest came as the result of a traffic stop in Homosassa, at W. Oaklawn St. and S. Grand Circle Ter., due to improper window tinting. The vehicle was searched, and 4.2 grams methamphetamine belonging to Ms. Curry, a right, rear seat passenger, was located.

Michael J. Sawyer, 43, Floral City, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 20, charged with misdemeanor criminal mischief ($200 or more, but less than $1,000). His bond was set at $1,000. The report stated that Sawyer is accused of smashing the windows of the victim’s vehicle because he was upset after a civil dispute. The report also stated that a bat was lying on the ground in close proximity to the vehicle. Mr. Sawyer told the deputy that he was upset because the victim had some of his property, and he snapped and smashed the windows of her car, according to the report.

Daniel James Carlson, 61, New Port Richey, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 21, charged with driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, drugs or chemicals ($1,000 bond). The arrest came as the result of a traffic stop in the area of S. Suncoast Blvd. and W. Arbor St. in Homosassa. According to the arrrest report, Mr. Carlson, the driver, had difficulty maintaining his balance, smelled strongly of alcohol and slurred his words. Mr. Carlson declined to perform roadside sobriety testing, as well as alcohol breath testing at the Citrus County Dwetention Facility, according to the arrest report. Carlson was also issued a DUI traffic citation for refusing to submit to a blood alcohol test. Mr. Carlson’s dog was taken to the Citrus County Animal Shelter.

Justin Taylor Carpenter, 20, Crystal River, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 21, on a Gilchrist County, FL warrant for aggravated battery using a deadly weapon, and battery ($35,000 bond).
