Woman fired and arrested, charged with check fraud

Jamie Kim Block, 46, Beverly Hills, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, July 25, charged with 10 counts of forgery with intent to defraud ($20,000 bond). According to the arrest report, Ms. Block’s employer, Citrus REO Services, Inc., Inverness, terminated her employment in May, 2017, due to suspicion that she had used the business’ checking account to pay personal bills and obtain cash, 10 times during 2017. Her arrest was the result of a fraud investigation that started, May 11. The business owner provided detectives with pertinent information: 5 checks totaling $338.89, between Jan. 9 and May 3, written by Block to Rolling Oaks Utilities; 3 checks totaling $900, between March 3 and May 2, made payable to herself by Ms. Block; and 2 checks totaling $188.96, between May 6 and April 6, made payable to Duke Energy by Block to pay her energy bill. The report stated that Ms. Block’s former employer is still checking files and working with his bank to determine if there are other losses.

Upon her arrest, Ms. Block told deputies, according to her arrest report, that she had worked for her former employer as an office administrator, and on several occasions had written checks to herself that he was aware of, stating it was related to money owed to her ex-husband who performed work for the business. She also told the detective that she has written several checks to pay for her utilities, all of which she’d paid back, and her employer is aware of this.
